I'm Depressed: Please Help Me

Depression is a condition that affects over 20 million Americans each year.  If you have ever thought “I’m depressed and need help”, there are some things that you may be able to do to help yourself before you have to seek medical treatment. 

About Depression

Depression is thought to be caused by a low level of chemicals in the brain called neurotransmitters.  The mood centers of the brain need certain amounts of these neurotransmitters such as Serotonin and Norepinephrine in order to keep the mood in a positive state.  When neurotransmitters are depleted, you can become depressed. 

Mild depression may include a lack of energy, a general feeling of dissatisfaction and a lack of ability to enjoy normal activities.
